A Message from Principal Gordon

We’re excited to invite you to our PTA-sponsored Trunk or Treat event on Friday, October 24th! This festive evening is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together for some safe, spooky fun. We hope to see many of you there enjoying decorated trunks, treats, snacks for purchase from our food trucks and the joyful spirit of fall!

As we celebrate the season, we also recognize Red Ribbon Week, a national campaign dedicated to promoting healthy, drug-free lifestyles. Throughout the week, students will engage in meaningful activities that encourage positive choices and personal responsibility.
Looking ahead to Friday, October 31st, we’ll be celebrating Book Character Dress-Up Day to be "Characters with Courage; Turn the Page on Drugs"! Students are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite character from a book they love. Please remember: this is not a Halloween costume day. Face masks and props will not be allowed, and all costumes should reflect a book character to keep the focus on literacy and creativity.

Thank you for your continued support in making our school a safe, inclusive, and inspiring place for all students.

Principal, Camelot Elementary

A Message from Assistant Principal Victor

As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment, we want to remind families that our school follows the OCPS Code of Student Conduct for all discipline matters. This important guide outlines expectations for student behavior and helps us foster a positive school culture. You can review the full Code of Conduct here.

Each marking period, students revisit the Code of Conduct in their classrooms to reinforce these expectations. We also encourage you to watch this short video that highlights the importance of making good choices: Watch Here. Your continued support at home is invaluable—thank you for encouraging your child to Be Brave and make responsible decisions every day.

Extended Day Drop-Off Reminder

For families enrolled in our Before School Extended Day Program, please remember that the earliest drop-off time is 7:00 AM. For safety reasons, students must be dropped off directly to the counselor at the designated door. We kindly ask that no students be dropped off before 7:00 AM, as staff will not be available to supervise. Your cooperation helps us ensure a safe and smooth start to the day for all students.

A Message from Ms. Parris

With the beginning of a new marking period there are always opportunities. We are excited to share a reminder about student access to the OCPS LaunchPad with a quick guide to help your student log in to their account. Launchpad is the central hub for OCPS educational resources.

What is LaunchPad?
LaunchPad, located at https://launchpad.ocps.net/, is an essential portal that gives students easy access to:
  • Digital Textbooks by class
  • Google Docs, Google Drive, Canvas, and other Educational Apps
  • Skyward for official grades
  • ParentSquare for school, class and district communication
Why it matters?
With LaunchPad, your student can stay organized, informed, and connected to their learning using any device.

If you haven't tried it, here is how you can get started?
Follow the step-by-step instructions in the guide to help your student log in and explore their dashboard.

A Message from Special Area Teachers

Music
This week Mrs. Kerr received a Morning Glow Teacher Impact grant from the Phoenix Foundation of Central Florida. This grant for $2,910.08 will be used to purchase rolling stands for all of our Orff mallet instruments (like the xylophones) so that students can stand up to play and have more flexibility to move instruments around for small group work, stage performances, and more! The ability to stand while playing will also aid in accessibility for any students with mobility issues in need of accommodations, and will help all students develop the best possible playing technique. Woohoo!

Sweet Potato Harvest

Our sweet potato harvest was a huge success this week! In May, last year's fourth graders planted sweet potato slips, and this year's fourth grade harvested them. This "passing down the garden" to the next grade level has been going on for almost 10 years. We estimated that we harvested about 90-100 pounds! The potatoes will be 'cured' and sent home with students who are interested. A big thank you to the students in Ms. West, Ms. Webb, Ms. Desmond, Ms. Maggard, Ms. Austin, and Ms. Dougherty's classes for helping with this huge task! Way to go kids! Special shout out to Mrs. Dale for making this happen! Your hours of hard work are MUCH appreciated!!!
