History & Purpose

Camelot's History

Camelot Elementary School opened in August 2001. It is located in an area of high growth: reaching an enrollment of over 1300 students during the 2005-2006 school year. Castle Creek Elementary, our relief school, opened in August of 2006, and over 600 students were rezoned to attend it.

Currently, our enrollment is a total of 550 students. Over the years we have become a small, close knit family. We are strong, united, and all have a passion for working with children. Our purpose is to provide a safe environment where all students learn to develop the skills and strategies which empower and inspire them to become life-long learners. We have many accomplishments of which we are proud. These include receiving the 5 Star Award, the Golden School Award, an “A” school, and our 3rd grade students made the highest learning gains on the 2011 FCAT Reading Test in the county.

The school serves students from a wide socioeconomic background. As of February, 2012, 48.4% of our student population qualifies for Free or Reduced Lunch. Currently, 36.5 % of the student population is white, 40.4% are Hispanic, 16.1% are Black, 5.2% are Asian, and 1.7 are Multiracial.

This school year Camelot Elementary School has a VPK program, five kindergarten classrooms, five first grade classrooms, five second grade classrooms, five third grade classrooms, five fourth grade classrooms and five fifth grade classrooms. We currently offer the Basic ESOL (k-12) Program Model for our English Language Learners. Exceptional Education classrooms include three ASD classrooms, Speech/language, Gifted Education, and Specific Learning Disabilities.

Camelot Elementary is a place “Where Dreams Begin!”
